I came to painting out of an urgent need to create. I have found that
although I have some skill in computer art and manipulation, and
also work in clay, it is through paint (oils and acrylics) that I find
the most intensely satisfying way to respond to the strange and wonderful
images from everyday life. My style is evolving from
representational work into the realm of figurative and abstract
expressionism.
I am particularly fascinated by the play of light and colour in the urban landscape,
in rain and snow and at night. It is in these areas, when the world is apparently
unwelcoming or dark that I find the most to express through painting. |
