"The Human form has always been a primary obsession in my paintings. An attempt is made to expose its fears and fancies, coax private experience out from behind inhibition into the glare of the canvas. Size is determined by the sweep of an arm. One must not be afraid of making a fool of oneself. To break out from the English reserve and display for all the world to see.
The subject matter varies from the single figure to tow, three or more. At the edge of the sea or in it. I cannot express too bly the importance of the sea. Single figures are depicted in isolation involved in dialogue with their particular landscape. Music and dance is the ultimate group experience. All these elements evolve, change within themselves and become personal, determined by the whim of the brush, the movement of a hand. The accidental is allowed to remain. Colour and form create the image."
