Sylvia Philpot
Since attaining A level in Art, Sylvia went on to train under Charles Debenham and Anthea du Rose. She has exhibited an numerous local exhibitions in East Anglia and was awarded the Lawrence Trophy for the most promising new artist in an Exhibition in London sponsored by BT, with over 600 exhibitors from all over the country.
Some of Sylvia's paintings are signed "Saora", particularly since developing her style under the influence of Franz Marc of the Der Blaue Riter School. Her paintings are arresting and exploratory, seeking to evoke the mood of the world of animals, particularly deer. These secretive creatures are sensitive to every movement and sound and Sylvia aims to capture their behaviour like a snapshot viewed from behind a tree or shrub.
Seascapes are also one of the artist's forte having sailed the unpredictable waters of the North Sea with her father and sister during her youth.
Portraits commissions. A combination of sittings and photographs preferred.
