"I am inspired to paint places where I have felt a sense of peace,
tranquility, stillness and timelessness. I try to capture this
sense of place and also to create an atmosphere in which time
seems to stand still.
I don't include modern items or people that could identify the
picture as belonging to a particular time. I rarely include
figures in my landscapes, and when I do, they are only hinted at.
I like mixing the subtle colours of nature. I aim for a slightly
loose impressionistic effect and try to imagine what lies beyond.
I studies at art college, gaining an LSIAD Diploma in Illustration,
worked for some years in a graphic design studio and have produced
artwork for greeting cards and magazine illustrations.
Recently, I have discovered the process of giclee printing, which has
led to new developments in my work. My paintings tend to be small and detailed, but by reproducing
them as prints, this enables them to be enlarged which
gives them a looser effect and allows the brush strokes to be seen,
and this really enhanes their appearance.
My work has been shown at:
The Association of Illustrators Gallery, Charlotte Street, W.1.
'Momentum '04', exhibition, E7Arts, at Passmore Edwards Museum E15.
'New Perceptions' exhibition at the Leytonstone Arts Festival"
