"This is a weathered stone cottage in Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire, on a very misty and drizzly day. I wanted to emphasize this mistiness to create a very soft, hazy and almost dreamlike effect. I have painted the cottage itself in very muted colours so that it almost recedes into the background, and left the edges of the trees and plants loose and undefined.
I used a paper with a 'felt finish' which was very absorbent and helped to create the soft effect I wanted."
