"I liked the rich and complex colours of the old weathered teracotta
roof tiles, and I have always liked weatherboard buildings.
I used layers of washes, beginning with a light wash of Light red
which I masked in places using masking fluid to preserve the lightest
tones, and then building up layers of colours including Cobalt blue,
Payne's grey, Olive green and Indian red to create the weathered and
lichened effect.
The trees behind the house were painted loosely with washes of cool greens
mixed from Olive green, Cobalt blue and Indigo and I
especially like the very cool dark green of the horse chestnut tree on the left."
