"I was trained at Art School in graphic design and illustration.
My early working years were spent as a designer in the advertising industry.
This was a good grounding for later work in illustration and painting for
it taught me the essentials to good layout and colour composition.
For some years, I taught illustration at degree level while establishing
myself in the publishing industry where I successfully designed and
illustrated many children's books and developed my own character
called 'Martha The Cat'. She appeared in three pop-up books, aimed at the
young reader.
For this work, I was made a member of the 'Association Of Illustrators',
and also awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Designers.During
all this time I had painted in watercolours and after many painting
holidays to rural South West France, I eventually relocated there in 2002.
I am completely awe inspired by the natural surroundings, colour and
light around my rural farmhouse, giving me a never ending range of
subjects for my work."
