"For as long as I can remember during my childhood in Barcelona, I have had
a pencil in my hand, amd the unstoppable desire to draw on any available
blank area. Even at school, I remember my cream, wipeable desk always
covered in either shapes, faces, fantastic creatures or any other
miniature drawing I fancied doing at the time. Should the desk be
wiped clean by the cleaners, I would inexhaustably reproduce the same
image over and over again!. It didn't stop there. Drawing in pencil carried
on to be my expression and my escape - all through my teenage years.
Still true to my graphite addiction, I also worked with coloured
pencils, charcoal and some pastels.
In the quest for a change of scenery, I decided to venture into England
after finishing my A-Levels, in 1989. I enrolled as an art student for a
couple of years at Northbrook College, West Sussex, and it was there
that I started to draw larger areas, mostly A1, which up until then
would not have been a size I would have approached with ease. My time
at art college proved to be invaluable in helping me to loosen my -
up until then, extremely photographic approach to drawing and inspired me to be
more adventurous and to put more of ME into my work.
Life commitments and financial restrictions shaped my following few years away from
art, although I would always be dipping into one craft or another, just to feed my
craving for creativity.
Only this year, 2002, have I been in a position to dedicate more time to
exploring my new artistic ventures and having been introduced to the fantastic world
of acrylics by an inspirational, established artist, Steve Carrol, I
am now discovering this medium and enjoying every minute! I particularly
enjoy the versatility of this type of paint and the vibrancy of its colour.
I would like the world to share my excitement and to provide me with
enless inspiration for many years to come."
