Joy says "My main subject has always been landscape, both natural and
man-made. At one stage a preoccupation with industrial landscape led to
commissions from business organisations such as CIBA(ARL) Ltd., and Jermyn
Industries.
The 'Temple' series or paintings, some of which are shown here, were
originally inspired by a visit to a Synagogue and use an amalgam of parts
of the architecture.Colour was a response to the Hebrew music heard there.
These paintings developed alongside the latest landscapes, which also seek to
extract certain characteristic shapes and colours to evoke the
spirit/atmosphere of a place, by creating an equivalent experience, rather
than purely factual representation."

In the past, Joy has carried out commissions for business organisations,
for example : CIBA(ARL) Ltd., and private buyers.
Where the painting is a fixed size and large - say six foot, an advance
payment is usually made to cover the cost of canvas/board etc., and as a
deposit for the time to be spent on the work. The balance is paid on
completion.
The cost of framing is treated separately. The buyer can make their own
arrangements or Joy will obtain a quote and order the frame if required.
