I am a full time professional artist. I paint yachts, ships, harbour scenes and sea scapes as well as pet portraits to commission. I have now decided to free up and offer for sale, work that I have done from my imagination; work that doesn't have the constraints of commissions where, of course, the subject matter is dictated.
I love to use draftsmanship to portray accurate form in my paintings and then surround or "mist" them from my imagination.
I have been painting for about forty years; thirty of these, during all my spare time, when at sea in the Merchant Navy. (A lot of time was available during my last ten years as Ship Master). I am mainly self taught, except for periods at the Slade School of Art - learning draughtsmanhip during the long leave periods. On leaving the sea, I became a full time marine artist.
I have exhibited at many galleries and events to obtain commissioned work.
Commissions have been accepted from the Admiralty, ship and yacht owners world wide, (ie from Lady Docker, for the fabulous yacht "Shemara" also Ellermans and Rowbotham's ship owners for their board rooms.
