"I paint mostly abstract non-figuratively. My images are inpired by the effects of my environment (both physical and emotional). They range from vibrant and strong to calm and sensitve, to resolved subtle and balanced. The square and rectangle form often features - either by acting as a metaphor for containment or freedom - i.e. as a defined area, or as an open form appearing to leave the image area, giving the feeling that the image is merely a part of a greater "whole". In other words, a visual representation and expression of something deeper - or more accurately a visualisation of part of that 'something'.
I tend not to title my works unless it is directly relevant as I feel the work is the object here, and that hanging a 'tag' or 'label' can deflect from it and can sometimes influence how one views the art. I always use the example that most composers' symphonies are rarely titled - just numbered as it is the work that is important, not the name one may give to it."
