Artist Naushad Waheed
"Naushad, the leading artist in Maldives, has produced some of the most stunning paintings depicting life in Maldives. His abstract style is unique and is deeply influenced by his turbulent career. His paintings are intensely political and reflects the suffering he has experienced as a political activist. The early 1990s paintings of fish out of water and gasping for breath reflects the political situation of activists in the beginning of 1990s. His recent prison paintings have taken same theme a level higher." - Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan -(My Brother /UNICEF Representative)
