"I find it difficult to describe myself as an artist because the subjects I like to paint can vary so much.

I very rarely paint directly from life however, preferring instead to create something from my imagination. Broadly speaking, I find that these imaginary pictures tend to be either sunny subjects or gloomy, bleak subjects.
The former, I think, derive from almost idyllic summer holidays from school in my Grandmother's garden in the country, spent reading from Grimm and Lewis Carroll. In the latter kind of subjects I like to explore the more depressive side of my nature.
Curiously, I find I'm equally at home in both worlds.
Occasionally, I like to paint just form and colour - 'abstracts', in a way - which are emotionally neutral for me.
Despite the age of some of these paintings, this is the first time I've offerred some of them for sale."
