Artist Anne Dorothy Rogers

Anne Rogers studied with BMSI (Patron Lord Longford since 1980) under M. J. Philippou (who in turn studied with Russian Court painter George Alexandrevitch Aleeff and is cited in the European press as the first professional woman Icon Painter and one of the top restorers of the old masters among whom Reubens, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Chardin, Vouillard - and others).
Anne Rogers held her first exhibition at the Ripley Arts Centre in Bromley, in Kent, in January 2002. She has been painting for only three years, but after taking a crash course in painting with Joy Philippou is producing lively and colourful landscape, still life and flower paintings in oil and acrylics. She had not painted in her life before but with Joy Philippou's expert teaching skills has been able to develop her talents to a high degree.
Visitors to her first exhibition expressed their delight in her expression of the mood of the countryside scenes and the delicacy of the flowers. They liked the tranquility and dreamlike quality of the landscapes.
She is also a gifted pianist cussently studying for the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music - she also teaches piano.
Anne Rogers has two daughters and also two grandchildren. She has had great support from her friend and teacher Joy Philipou and would like to express her gratitude to her because she not only taught her to paint but made many of the frames for her first exhibition and gave constant support and the motivation to continue and complete the twenty paintings which were exhibited.
Also she thanks her husband Martin and brother John who have also given her great support.
