"This building was part of my life for 55 years:it was next door to the Eye Hospital I attended weekly as a child, opposite the University where I was a student (1966-70 and again 1986-7) and just along the street from the Pankhurst Centre, where I had an exhibition in 1997. I decided to paint it - and you've guessed - while I was doing so, it was demolished and a Hogshead Alehouse now stands on the site. "
