"This is my favourite picture and it is very meaningful to me.
My poem:
Trapped in the city from 9.00 to 5.00
Nothing and no one really seems alive
All acting like robots with a means to survive
Not even the pay brings a glint to our eyes
Trapped in a world of high taxes and low pay
Is it any wonder we long for another day.
Basically, I had to work as a secretary for many years to survive. I put my art on
hold for over 20 years. I wanted to break free from being a secretary and
follow my dreams of being an artist. I was fed up with typing and having
to make tea for my boss for a wage that was laughable. The clock
signifies watching the time go by, watching life go by and feeling trapped.
I was fed up with commuting into London and being squashed up in trains and tubes
and wanted freedom badly."
