"My Goal has been to Create the essence of the moment, with the least detail possible, and allow the viewer's mind to bring life to the art.
Derived from relationships, primarily within my family, all of my work is pure emotion with the momentum of sudden inspiration and the abandonment of restrictions."

I respond to these relationships of love with ink paintings such as; 'the Embrace', 'The Family' and 'Lovers 2'.
'Leapfrog', 'City Streets', 'The Dance' and 'Mother and Child' are born from my children and my reactions to them and to the world around them.

As many artists use their lovers as models, I use my lover, my wife who posed briefly for 'Girl Reading Book'. Obviously, 'Mother and Child' and 'Family' are her contributions as well.
And then there are times when I cannot keep the sadness of the world from me, and 'Despair' comes knocking."

EDUCATION
Murry Handler was educated at the Bangor High School in Maine and from there went on to the Franklin Institute of Art, New York City. After spending three years at the Franklin institute he spent one year at the Pratt studying life studies with Joseph Kelly Workshop School. He has also studied painting under Joseph Hirsch.
