David Whitfield's portraits in oils are so much more than copies of photographs. These are real people whose personalities are represented by expert brush strokes and clever colour combinations. These portraits, however distorted seem to be living entities. Even if you have never met these people, the paintings seem to be expresing something about the painted faces.
Luke Turton produces drawings with confident clear lines. He accepts

Artist Grant Compton has painted a lively bright pair
of paintings depicting an unfamiliar relaxed pace of life lost to us here
in the uk. These figurative paintings showing African
people in their beautiful traditional cottons carrying
fruit and showing children playing are warm and great fun.
Here in the UK it may be mid-winter and freezing outside but in
the studio of Devonshire artist John Mulberry at least, spring is
already turning to summer with a bit of the rich wram reds
of autumn. His oil on canvas
cherry blossoms are already pink against blue
skies. There may be storm clouds over his canvases of Dartmoor
but his roses and foxgloves are in full bloom and in the middle
is a delicious apple with a delectable shiny red skin. These
paintings come in all shapes and sizes - including some narrow
horizontal or vertical canvases.
What parent would not be delighted to be able to introduce art to
their child in the form of this exciting, exclusive watercolour called
"The Jumboes of the Jungle". Children and adults alike will love this picture. The
artist Naveen Ravi, is studying to be a doctor and hopes to sell
some art to pay for her studies. This subject is dear to her heart.
Naveen Ravi painted this because she loves animals and because
in India, the Elephant is a sacred animal.
It is not surprising that Rashit Habirov's paintings
sell. He has the skill of painting like
the old masters. Who, in the horseracing world, or the
art world, could not appreciate this quality original
oil painting?
These racing silks, folded and ready to be weighed and worn
suggest the optimism and excitement of a
steeplechase. Without actually painting a racehorse,
these items bring to one's mind images
of a day at the races - or a life in the saddle.
As well as this wonderful still life, we
have three other new paintings by Rashit Habirov for
sale. If you like it - buy it - or you may be disappointed.
If you have ever visited a holiday villa in Spain,
Edward Helmer's colourful paintings of Spanish
rooftops nestling in the lemon groved hillsides of
Andalus will be instantly recognisable. Edward
captures the hazy heat of the area, and the lazy relaxed
atmosphere with his loose brushstrokes and colours
so right for this beautiful area of Spain. If you
are looking for a special gift for anybody about to
set up home there, or for anybody who has had to come
back to Britain who has lived in Spain, what better
present than one of these lovely pieces of original artwork.
Peter Gander paints with a very clean pallette. His colours are
bright and vibrant and his original acrylic paintings
pulsate with reflected light. His style is very
modern. These paintings would bring an empty wall
to life, offering an instant focal point for the
eye which is almose alive with colour.
Nick Pike is not afraid of a bit of political controversy,
having produced here a painting of The O.J. Simpson Trial
and a portrait of Margaret Thatcher. Nicks paintings seem
overall to be about expressions of emotions using art.
This surreal figure for example,
entitled 'Vibrant Darkness' explores the dichotomy of emotions
within; extremes of happiness and despair.
